Kathrein extends its RFID product range in the field of Industrial Automation

As the leading manufacturer of antenna electronics, Kathrein has been active in the field of RFID for over 25 years and has comprehensive know-how in the field of UHF antennas and in the conditioning and processing of analogue and digital signals.

The new type of UHF antenna/reader platform developed at the Kathrein innovation centres at Rosenheim and Burgstädt creates the foundation for an extension of the RFID product range to satisfy customers' needs and requirements.

Kathrein will be exhibiting the new UHF antenna family for the first time at the Euro ID 2009 exhibition in Cologne. These products complete the circle of industrial-standard RFID UHF components.

These antennas, specially developed for industrial use, are characterised by maximum antenna performance and long-term mechanical stability.

The antennas satisfy protection class IP 65 and all mechanical requirements for use in tough industrial environments.

In addition to the frequently required antenna types with 30° or 70° beam angle, Kathrein has introduced two completely new antenna designs, suitable for short (0.2 metre) to medium (1 metre) ranges.

The antenna designs have been specially optimised for metallic and conductive environments, and are particularly suitable for use on conveyor systems and for integration into existing infrastructures.

In addition, the innovative housing concept of the wide-range antennas allows incorporation of the entire reader electronics, thus achieving a single readpoint, at optimum costs and use of space.
